Matthew Modine has revealed that he will officiate Stranger Things co-star Millie Bobby Brown’s upcoming wedding to Jake Bongiovi, Jon Bon Jovi’s son.
Modine confirmed his role in the forthcoming nuptials to Access Daily’s Mario Lopez and Kit Hoover, saying “I have one of those licenses to get people married and Millie thought it’d be great and then Jake said it would be a great idea, so I wrote the wedding vows and they loved what I wrote for them to join hands and to become husband and wife.”
Continuing, Modine, who portrays Stranger Things’ Dr. Martin Brenner, said “It’s such a beautiful thing to be able to join two people in holy matrimony.” He then reflected on his 44-year marriage, saying “It’s amazing when it works.”
Then, Modine speculated on whether or not Dr. Brenner could return for Season 5 of Stranger Things. “I think the interesting thing about Dr. Brenner is: how did he get that job?” he said. “How do you go to the government and say ‘I want to do these experiments with young kids and teach them psychic powers?’ So my question was always: was he No. 0? Was he the first guy? Did he possess that kind of power to be able to teach people?”
Modine highlighted a moment in Season 4 where Eleven tries to use powers against Dr. Brenner, and he says “You didn’t think it’d be that easy, did you?” To Modine, that line could be “opening the door to the possibility.” To see the full interview, watch it here.
Stranger Things Season 5 is due in 2025, and will be the show’s final batch of episodes.
As for Brown and Bongiovi, they first announced their engagement in April 2023. Last month, Bongiovi’s dad said that the couple are “madly in love and we love them both for that.”
