I love meeting a new face on the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. But I am worried that Britani Bateman just doesn’t have what it takes. As a viewer, I think she is as sweet as pie. But for a housewife, it feels like Bravo threw this sweet doe into the deep end. With only a few episodes under its belt, the new season has shown some harsh lights on Britani, and it doesn’t look like she’s making friends either.
If Britani Bateman is trying to replace Monica Garcia, it won’t happen
Okay, so love her or hate her, Monica Garcia, aka Reality von Tease, lit up Season 4 of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. She was the evil step-sister the franchise needed after Jen Shah’s departure. However, Britani is no villain—not yet, at least. If anything, the newbie has waltzed in like Snow White to meet and greet the new friend circle. The first three episodes have shown Britani in a relatively positive light, however delusional. My prediction for B is that if she wants to be well-received, she has to stick to being her own entity. No piggybacking off of Monica’s hard work.
Fans are going to need to see Britani step out of her tiny Mormon box and embrace the chaos. She has already held back when opening up to Heather Gay about why she still feels she wants her fairytale dream love. And let me tell you, as a fan, I want to know what she is hiding. She already has some mini drama brewing, thanks to her admission that she chose men over her children. She’s also dating an Osmond, who has to have some kind of higher level standing in the Mormon Church.
Britani Bateman will win Bronwyn Newport over…
Britani might be able to win over Bronwyn Newport, but I can almost guarantee that she will have no such luck with Mary Cosby. Even though Britani seemed puzzled by the lady’s love of fashion, she liked the idea of dressing up. However, she found herself in trouble when she questioned Bronwyn’s $15,000 YSL jacket (you know, the one that Britani presumably can’t pronounce.) In an attempt to make friends, Britani noted, “Bronwyn, I love your costume.” But to the self-described fashionista, that wasn’t a compliment. Mary squeaked, “Oh, lord. She done called it a costume. I’m done.”
Sadly for Britani, that was her trial with the preacher. Bronwyn rejoined the conversation, saying “That’s fighting words to Mary and I! This is not a costume.” I felt bad for Brit, who didn’t seem to understand the faux pas, asking, “Why is that ‘fighting words?” which led Mary to clarify: “Because we don’t wear costumes, we wear fashion.” Now I predict Bronwyn was just trying to show off a little and will eventually embrace Britani as a friend or at least a co-star. But Ms. Britani has an uphill climb first.
Britani Bateman has a true friend in Heather Gay
I love nothing more than a good, solid Real Housewives of Salt Lake City friendship. First, there was Lisa Barlow and Meredith Marks. Then there was Bad Weather. And now there is Britani and Heather. The actress was brought onto the franchise by the Bad Mormon, and I predict that these two will be one another’s ride or die. Viewers have already seen Heather ask the women to be kind to Britani out of respect for her. So, I am guessing we are going to see a few more times where Heather defends Britani since she hasn’t exactly gotten off to the best of starts.
According to Britani, who is Mormon, she’s “been married and divorced twice.” She also mentioned that she met her current boyfriend, Jared Osmond after her ex-husband started dating Jared’s ex. She joked with Heather that they trauma-bonded but have since broken up 16 times. However, I liked how Heather wanted to dive deep into the trauma and noted that the patriarchy was to blame. In my opinion, Britani is a smart cookie and has a lot of potential for grabbing a snowflake; she just has to learn how to harness it.
