Fans are gushing over The Punisher’s One Last Kill look
The first look at Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle in The Punisher: One Last Kill has landed online. Fans on X are reacting positively, with users calling Frank “pure chaos” and “so badass.” Another user said Frank “looks so cool” in the new footage.
Marvel Television will premiere the special on Disney+ on May 12, 2026. That date coincides with the Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 finale. Marvel tucked a brief tease at the end of the latest Born Again Season 2 trailer.
Director Reinaldo Marcus Green leads the project, with Jon Bernthal serving as both star and co-writer. Oscar-winning cinematographer Robert Elswit, known for There Will Be Blood, shot the special. Executive producer Brad Winderbaum previously described it as a “beautiful piece” that was “incredibly acted.”
Bernthal co-wrote the special after pitching his own vision for the character. “I’ve said it a million times: Frank is in my bones, is in my heart. I care about him,” Bernthal told Collider. He added, “I presented that version to them, and they encouraged me to keep coming to the table.”
The special follows Frank Castle as he searches for meaning beyond revenge until an unexpected force pulls him back. Bernthal collaborated with veterans during development, crediting one friend named Nick as “incredible.” “I’m honored, and I’m grateful. It’s an incredible group of people that we’re assembling,” Bernthal said.
One user on X also argued the project “should have been a theatrical film.”
Bernthal, Green, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, and Sana Amanat executive produce the special, with Trevor Waterson serving as co-executive producer.
