Prime Video has added yet another romance powerhouse to Lauren Asher’s Throttled adaptation. In addition to putting Off Campus star Josh Heuston and Culpa Mía actress Nicole Wallace in the driver’s seat as the romantic leads, Julio Peña is joining the circuit as Formula 1 racer Santiago Alatorre. The streamer has already revealed a video of the trio, teasing their dynamic on social media.
Should the entirety of Asher’s Dirty Air series make it to the screen, Peña — who’s known for the Netflix romance trilogy Through My Window — would eventually lead his own Throttled film. The first movie, however, is centered on Heuston’s Noah Slade and Wallace’s Maya Alatorre. When vlogger Maya starts documenting her brother’s (Peña) races at the World Championship, she falls for Noah, Santiago’s rival. Maya and Noah try to resist their forbidden attraction, but they’re stuck in close proximity for 21 races.

What is Throttled about?
While readers have a sense of what the Lauren Asher adaptation will be about, the official adaptation announcement gave a teaser for what viewers should expect. Deadline confirmed that “[Throttled] tells the story of an ambitious young woman who joins her brother on the racing circuit and falls into a forbidden, high-stakes romance with her brother’s ruthless teammate and fiercest racing rival.”
Who has been cast in Throttled?
Noah is Heuston, who is best known for his role as Justin Kohl in Season 1 of Off Campus. For Heuston, this marks his second major book-to-screen role with Prime Video. (Ahead of the announcement, readers were convinced that Heuston would be stepping into a different Prime Video series: Fourth Wing.)
Wallace has experience in the Prime Video space, too. The 24-year-old Spanish-American actress catapulted to fame by starring in the mega-successful 2023 film Culpa Mía and the two films that followed, all based on author Mercedes Ron’s books. Coincidentally, Wallace’s Culpa Mía character, Noah, also races cars. “Just a girl that likes her cars,” Wallace wrote on Instagram upon the casting announcement.
So far, Peña is the only other cast member who has been revealed. The movie is being directed by Daisy Jones & The Six‘s Nzingha Stewart.
What has Josh Heuston said about Throttled?
When the news broke that Heuston had been cast in Throttled, he posted on Instagram, writing, “Get in the car.” Of course, in the comments, fans were quick to question whether playing Noah means that Heuston will not be in Fourth Wing as either Xaden or Bohdi, as fans have predicted. Heuston himself commented, “2/3” on his announcement post, fueling the Fourth Wing rumors.
As “2/3” could be read as February 3 or two out of three. It seems too early in the process for a February premiere date, so fans have latched onto the two-out-of-three theory. One wrote, “Maybe 2/3 is book adaptations so his first is off campus, his second is this one and his third maybe is fourth wing.” Another questioned, “IS THIS RAGE BAITING!????? [dragon emoji 2x].”
What is Throttled’s release date?
Unless Heuston spilled the release date in his Instagram comments and the film really is coming next February, there is no set premiere date for Throttled just yet, though it seems the cast is all together as of October 2026. Prime Video hasn’t shared if production has officially started, though. Check back here for more updates!
