Get ready for the plagues to descend upon Music City. The 9-1-1: Nashville Season 2 trailer shows, in detail, just what the 113 and the police department will be dealing with when new episodes premiere on Thursday, October 15, on ABC.
“Did you say murder hornets?” Don (Chris O’Donnell) asks incredulously near the beginning of the promo, and let’s be honest: That’s tame compared to what else is coming.
When Don meets Detective Rogue (new series regular Ryan Phillippe) on a call, he asks, “What’s a homicide detective doing here?” As Rogue points out, there are “three bodies on the ground.”
Speaking of homicide … what’s Blythe (Jessica Capshaw) planning to do with that gun? It can’t be related to her feud with Dixie (LeAnn Rimes), right? That would be taking it a bit far…
“I will send swarms upon you and your people,” Rogue reads from what seems to be a manifesto, and Don recognizes it as “one of the plagues from the Bible.” That’s what someone’s “unleashing” on Nashville.

“The first episode back, the biggest thrust of it is one is we introduce our new series co-lead, Ryan Phillippe. He’s going to be this East Coast homicide detective. He’s come to Nashville because things were very dark in New York. He saw a lot of bad stuff,” showrunner Rashad Raisani previously teased for us. “And so he came here to kind of slow down and he ends up in the case of his life.”
He added, “We’re going to bring in a villain into our show that will give us some of that same heft that those big set pieces that we traditionally get from hurricanes and floods and lava and whatever. This person is creating the plagues of the Bible to punish Nashville.”
