Real Housewives of Orange County Season 20 Episode 8 Recap

Welcome back to the latest recap of The Real Housewives of Orange County. Last time, Vicki mom-shamed Carmella in Vegas. Heather jumped to Carmella’s defense and got in Vicki’s face. Here’s what happened in RHOC Season 20 Episode 8: “Sangria, Songria.”

Emily and Tamra were annoyed by Heather’s hypocritical behavior. Emily’s husband, Shane, voiced his frustrations with being a stay-at-home dad. Meanwhile, Carmella hosted a pool party and introduced her boyfriend, Danny.

Vicki, Emily, and Tamra were having IVs and snacking on fried chicken. And Vicki unloaded on Heather. “She’s very entitled. She makes me feel like she’s the head of the troops,” Vicki stated.

Both Tamra and Emily pointed out how Heather got in Vicki’s face at the casino. They agreed that if either of them had done that to Fancy Pants, she would have called them “aggressive.”

Emily added, “But the point is, Victoria can address it with Carmella herself.” However, Tamra claimed that Heather was talking behind Carmella’s back. “She’s over here going, ‘She doesn’t fit in,’” Tamra said.

“Heather was not a fan of Carmella when we first met her. She made it very clear, multiple times, off-camera, that she thought that she was trashy looking,” Emily said in her confessional. “And that she didn’t fit in with the group and that she shouldn’t be here.”

In fact, Heather consoled Carmella when she was crying at the table and afterward complained about her. WOW.

Elsewhere, Heather visited Carmella at The Oppenheim Group. Carmella was helping Heather’s daughter Max find a rental.

In her confessional, the newbie addressed Vicki’s apology. “I’m feeling like Vicki’s apology is more for her than for me. She knows she looks like a dumbass,” Carmella explained. “So, I’m questioning: is this genuine? Or are we gonna see this repeat itself?”

Carmella asked Heather, “Is it just that you lose your filter as you get older?” She likened Vicki to the beloved Betty White. “She kind of reminds me of her. She just spits things out,” Carmella stated.

“And I think that’s why everyone goes, ‘Oh, it’s just Vicki,’” Heather replied.

Vicki gives Shannon financial advice

Shannon and Jenn discussed how Heather defended Carmella during the Las Vegas trip. “Heather was the one that was questioning her the most,” Shannon claimed.

“It feels like Heather has moves that she makes off-camera,” Jenn said in her talking head. “It feels calculated.”

Later, Vicki visited Shannon at her home. Shannon turned to Vicki for advice about her finances. “I have created some debt,” Shannon admitted in her confessional, “and I give money to my kids, but I put all my savings into Real For Real. Unfortunately, I had to shut my company down, and when I look back, I think, I could have had a house.” She added, “My life would be different.”

Vicki whipped out a budget worksheet. “I work on my budget every single month,” she told Shannon. Vicki estimated that Shannon spent about $3,000 monthly on Ubers, around $900 monthly on health care, and rent was $10,500 per month.

“Shannon, it’s not in your budget,” Vicki announced. And while Shannon has renter’s insurance, Vicki remarked, “You didn’t go through Coto Insurance for that, either.” Burn!

However, Shannon was reluctant to move. “It’s just I love it here. It makes me happy,” she explained.

In her talking head, Vicki commented, “Shannon’s not frugal. If this job ends, and David [Beador’s] child support ends, then what?” She added that while she will help her, Shannon “can’t come live with me.”

After Shannon thanked Vicki for helping her, Vicki picked something from Shannon’s teeth with her fingernail. Now that is a full-service financial planner!

Happy Anniversary?

Emily and her husband, Shane, went out to dinner to celebrate their 17th wedding anniversary. She explained in her confessional that it is tough to leave their son, Luke. “He calls and texts constantly, so we just have to … go home,” Emily said in her talking head.

The couple addressed the ongoing tension in their marriage. “Are you unhappy being a stay-at-home dad and doing all those things?” she asked. Shane admitted that he does miss working.

“I’m juggling the three kids with school and everything,” Shane said. “You don’t understand.”

In his confessional, Shane said, “Even when I had a full-time job, I felt I was always full-time at home. I feel that Emily is unaware that I could use a break once in a while.”

Carmella hosts a pool party

Carmella briefed her family on behaving appropriately in front of the RHOC cast, who were visiting Carmella’s Rancho Santa Fe home. When the ladies entered the house, they were greeted with a Pilates reformer instead of furniture.

Vicki and Tamra chatted with three of Carmella’s kids. “These are the kids that I left behind,” Carmella joked. “I’m kidding!”

Eventually, Carmella introduced everyone to her boyfriend, Danny. Gina and Emily, who were reclining by the pool, were in their feels about meeting him. “It’s weird meeting him where we know so much stuff. I feel weird,” Gina admitted.

Unlike her bestie, Emily wanted to ask when the infidelity happened. Her voice was loud, and Danny looked over. However, it was unclear if he heard the duo gossiping about him. Awkward!

Outside, there was a hot dog cart, and Vicki lost her mind because people were putting ketchup on hot dogs. “Carmella should be your people because she’s a Midwesterner,” Emily remarked.

“She is my people. We’re best friends now,” Vicki said. However, Tamra revealed that Carmella “poked” at Vicki by mentioning leaving her kids.

“Vicki somewhat apologized to Carmella in Vegas,” Jenn noted in her talking head. “And Vicki completely mom-shamed her. So now you guys are the same kind of people, and you and Carmella are best friends? Yeah, no, you’re not.”

Fancy Pants makes the ladies laugh with her “songria”

Then, everyone made fun of how Heather pronounced “sangria.” She said, “songria.” Of course, Fancy Pants insisted that she pronounced it correctly.

Carmella admitted that she has been “angry” since Danny’s infidelity, and told Jenn, Gina and Emily, “I have to let go of that. And not just for him, like for me.” In her talking head, Carmella said, “My kids love Danny. Knowing that he’s trying to give my kids comfort means so much to me.”

When Danny brought Carmella a drink, she thanked him, adding, “I’ll give you a blow job later.” When she realized her daughter was there, Carmella said she was joking. Yikes!

After Tamra wandered over, Emily wanted to discuss Heather’s actions in Las Vegas. “We love you. Sometimes, you’re a lot,” Tamra told Heather. Pot, meet kettle.

“I feel like a lot of times, everything revolves around you,” Emily added. “And what you want.”

“And that bothers you?” Heather asked. Tamra chimed in, stating that it “bothered a few people.”

Heather responded, “Well, I guess I’ll have to watch that. But guess what? There are people that f*cking love how much I am.” Not the iconic drama I craved for Season 20.

Shannon discusses a painful chapter

Later, Carmella approached Shannon and Vicki. She told Vicki, “I appreciate your apology, but I just wanted to make sure that we were good. Do you really have those thoughts about me?”

Vicki insisted that she wasn’t mom-shaming the new cast member. Then, she left early because she had another party to attend.

During a discussion about whether the ladies checked their partner’s phones, Shannon revealed that after she reconciled with her ex, she put his mistress’ number into his phone. The number came up under another name.

“Vicki told me that she thought that he was still in contact with his affair,” Shannon admitted in her confessional, “even though we’d reconciled for months. But they had reconnected.”

It seems that infidelity, and its effects, have touched many of the RHOC cast members.

The Real Housewives of Orange County airs on Thursdays, 8/7c on Bravo. It streams on Peacock the next day.
