Brand New Day’ Becomes No. 2 U.S. Box Office, Beats ‘Avengers: Endgame’

Brand New Day’ Becomes No. 2 U.S. Box Office, Beats ‘Avengers: Endgame’

In another record of Marvel beating Marvel, Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day has beaten Avengers: Endgame to become the second highest grossing movie at the domestic box office with $858.4M.

Yesterday, Brand New Day made $3.4M in its fourth Monday.

Endgame‘s lifetime in North America stands at $858.3M. On Sept. 25, Disney is re-releasing the Russo Brothers movie as Avengers: Endgame: Encore. Who knows what it will gross, but what’s clear is that Spider-Man: Brand New Day isn’t over in its box office run, bound for $900M domestic and thus becoming the second movie after Star Wars: Force Awakens to approach that near $1 billion threshold at the domestic box office. Brand New Day is only $41.6M away from hitting the nine century mark at the B.O.

This weekend, Brand New Day should continue to be No. 1 at the domestic box office with $18M in its fifth sesh. There’s a lot of heat from Ketchup Entertainment’s takeover of Warner Bros’ abandoned Coyote Vs. Acme with around $15M, but we don’t know yet if that’s a false positive. The pic made $400K in sneaks so far, and advance tickets sales are good, but it’s not clear if the rebellion on social is exclusively to NY and LA and will translate to the rest of the country. Sony’s Insidious: Out of the Further should ease -60% ala its previous 2023 chapter Red Door for a second frame around $10M.

Also opening this weekend is 20th Century Studios’ Ridley Scott movie, Dog Stars, and Roadside Attractions pick-up of Sundance genre title Buddy.
