However, the attention quickly went to a new spot on her face. There is speculation about what caused the mark.
Christina Applegate showed a mysterious new spot on her cheek but did not reveal what caused it
Applegate posted a video on Instagram on September 21 showing off her new look. The actress wore jeans and a black zip-up hoodie while showing off her freshly colored blonde hair.
The video also showed a noticeable spot on her cheek when she turned to the side. According to E! News, Applegate also shared an Instagram Story featuring a closer view of the area.
Applegate addressed the spot herself in the caption.
“Fresh hair color, new weird spot on my cheek haha,” she wrote. She then thanked stylist Dave Stanwell, adding, “Thank you @davestanwell for brightening up my cloudy day. Love you and love to you all out there.”
Applegate has been open about living with multiple sclerosis since announcing her diagnosis in 2021. In her memoir, You With the Sad Eyes, she described some of the physical challenges she experiences while living with the condition.
“When I wake up, I often can’t get my arm to move far enough to grab the cup of water by my bed or my phone from its charger.”
The actress also wrote, “One of the worst side effects of the illness is the exhaustion. It feels as though I’ve been on a three-day-long sleepless bender.”
Applegate has also used humor when discussing her health. During her 2022 Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, she joked, “Oh, by the way, I have a disease. Did you not notice? I’m not even wearing shoes.”
While the new spot has attracted attention online, Applegate has not said what caused it. She also has not connected the spot to her multiple sclerosis or any other medical condition.
